Here are my 7 Top Tips to make sure you can stick to your new year’s resolutions:
1. GET TO BED EARLY
I know…the late re – run of your favorite TV show was on and you just HAD to watch it…or you are just about to find out on Facebook the latest gossip about that colleague that gives you such a headache at the office. But all there late night habits cost a lot to your body in terms of good quality sleep putting you far behind to reach the body of your dreams.
Think again to your fitness goal and ask yourself is that (either tv shows or gossip) more important than your happiness?
2. EAT A LIGHT MEAL AT DINNER
It’s so much easier to wake up if your body is not feeling heavy and still trying to digest the food from the night before. You know that saying “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper” is a good guideline to start with.
3. MAKE EXERCISING AN EASY CHOICE
If you want to establish a long term lasting routine you need to have fun with your workout, not making it too hard for yourself.
Maybe just commit to getting out the door and doing 10 minutes of walking, after the 11th minute you can turn back orrrr now that you are awake you can keep going!
Try a new piece of equipment or plan a new challenging routine you look forward to do.
4. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR PERSONAL TRAINER OR YOUR WORKOUT BUDDY
Using your friends or even a Trainer to keep you accountable is an excellent way to motivate you and have fun with your workout. You are not going to leave neither of them waiting expectantly for you to arrive!
5. PLAN YOUR WORKOUT SESSION THE NIGHT BEFORE
Taking a minute to write out what body part you will train the next morning and which exercises you will do or book a class in whatever fitness boutique you feel like going to (Barry’s Bootcamp, Triyoga, Barrecore, Psycle, …) put you in the correct mind frame of waking up and getting your workout done. Being prepared means you’ll be able to stick to your training routine, nothing is worse than thinking you will have time later on in the day and then realise you forgot about a deadline that means you will miss out on your daily fitness dose.
6. LAY YOUR ACTIVE WEAR OUT
Getting ready your fitness gear the evening before, save you the inconvenience to wear your wife’ skirt instead of your T-Shirt while you are trying to find your wardrobe section stubbornly keeping your eyes close in the morning.
Also, speaking in particular to my ladies readers, laying out your gym gear, picking up the best matches and choosing what will make you feel gorgeous during your workout, will get you already a little bit excited to wake up and exercise!
To finish off… a little tip that can help you to stick to exercise everyday at any time of the day:
7. WRITE YOUR GOALS DOWN AND PUT THEM IN A VISIBLE PLACE
To help you keeping the focus on your S.M.A.R.T. Goals put them around you: in your car, on your desk, on the laptop home-screen or on your phone one. Cut out pictures from magazines with your dreams body or join a fitness page on Facebook and think that you will get there.
